I’ll be honest: while I have become all about the whole foods, green smoothies, work out in the morning lifestyle this year, my kids still eat junk. I don’t mean McDonald’s every night or anything, but unless white bread, cheese, more cheese, and juice just became the 4 food groups, they aren’t really getting enough good stuff.
To be fair, none of my children are obese. None of them are really overweight, unless you count that doughy, prepubescent potato dumpling stage as unhealthy, which I don’t. But the fact remains that living healthy and the standard American diet just don’t jive.
Sometimes, my kids question their own habits. They might come nibble on a freshly baked kale chip, spit it out, and ask for more Goldfish crackers.
I’ve been informed that I’m in control of what my kids eat, because I’m the parent. Good luck telling them that!
