Life Insurance Types

Protecting the things you love the most means protecting the people that make up your dreams. Life insurance—term life insurance, whole life insurance or universal life insurance—are options to make that happen. Life insurance can provide your family with a financial foundation in the event of your untimely death. We know that buying insurance can be confusing at times. We work with some of the top life insurance carriers in the country to provide you with a range of options in term insurance, whole insurance and universal insurance.

First, let’s understand the three main types of life insurance.

  • Term Life Insurance provides temporary protection over a set period of time, so that family members are insured with things like a mortgage or other expenses in the case of death. With 10-, 20- or 30-year coverage periods, these policies are the least expensive type and have no cash value unless the insured passes away during the course of the term.

  • Universal Life Insurance, a.k.a. adjustable life insurance, generally involve flexible premiums and flexible death benefits, building a cash value that depends on how much is put in.

  • Whole Life Insurance policies have set premiums that do not increase and offer lifetime protection for loved ones based on accumulated cash value. As the most expensive policy type, they build up cash value and guarantee insurability.

Unlike term life policies, Universal Life Insurance and Whole Life Insurance are considered permanent life insurance. These policies typically include a savings/investment portion and an insurance portion. Insured people can take a loan by borrowing against the cash value.
